Touching Taboos

According to the book there is no concrete definition for Touching Taboos. With that being said we can crete our own definitions based upon the two words put together. Touching is obviously the physical contact between two people. Taboos are the prohibited actions one could choose from. It would be safe to say that touching taboos are the prohibited actions one could choose to create physical contact between two people. Examples in the book include not touching strangers, harmful touches, startling touches, interruption touches and moving others. Some specific examples would include hitting, biting or slapping a person as an example of harmful touches or trying to give a massage to someone much like George Bush did to Chancellor Merkel. Even recently in my own life i have experienced some touching taboos. I remember about a year ago i was at a church camp with my youth group. There was a new guy in our group and he was on the Touchy-feely side of things. Even in the little amount of time he knew me, he was already trying to give me back and neck massages. Typically i am not against these. In fact, i am actually a huge fan of massages as long as i know you. But when i have no clue who you are or where you came from i become a little bit freaked out. Its deeply concerning that some people would be that open with a stranger with such an intimate act.
