Post 8: Why Communications?
I have always been shy growing up. I was never able to easily make friends and the friends I did make took a while to form. Beginning of 9th grade year I became even worse socially. I was very introverted, shy, and hated talking to people. It wasn’t until 12-grade year when I decided that I wanted to do something with Video, Photo, and Design. Realizing that I needed to communicate through these talents I needed a base skill for these talents. I Chose communications because I thought it would be a good base value concerning how to communicate not only to people but also THROUGH my talents. It wasn’t until freshman year of college when I decided that I want to communicate on a larger scale such as social media through a large company. It fascinates me how communication online works and through various media. This is why I chose the concentration of media studies. It allows me to look in depth of social media and other venues to communicate digitally. As we are greatly increasing in digital mediums I thought it would be good to learn how these different mediums work and use them to their full potential. This is why I chose communication as my major. I want to communicate to people through my talents as well as digitally and online. Lastly I chose communications because it’s a well-rounded major. Instead of specifically majoring in design or video, I decided that having a well-rounded degree would help me later in life incase another recession hits. Communications seems like a good fall back plan that any company would prefer.
